Five Cries of Asian American Christian Young Adults workshop

Greetings Canaan EMers!

If you feel passionate about building a strong Young Adults ministry, I’d like to invite you to attend a workshop sponsored by the Institute for the Study of Asian American Christianity (ISAAC) called “Five Cries of Asian American Christian Young Adults” next Saturday (Nov. 20 – 9 AM – 2 PM). It will be held at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 5038 Hyland Avenue, San Jose, CA 95127.

Pastor Peter Wang (tomorrow’s guest speaker) and I will co-lead this free workshop. The short link to the workshop website for more details and to register is easy to remember: bit.ly/fivecries

Also, if you complete a short on-line survey about Asian American Christian Young Adults, you can enter a drawing for a $25 gift card for Jamba Juice, Starbucks, or Barnes & Noble (your choice)! Just go to this link:

Here is a quick overview of workshop:

The workshop will address:
(1) social-cultural impacts on Asian American Young Adults (Tim Tseng)
(2) retention of Asian American Young Adults (Peter Wang)
(3) attracting Asian American Young Adults (Tim and Peter or another presenter)
(4) how your church can more effectively reach Asian American Young Adults.

Pastor Peter Wang of Southbay Chinese Baptist Church will provide a case study of successful retention. He and I (or another presenter) will share observations about how to attract Asian American Young Adults to our churches. Peter has served as pastors of youth and young adults for the Chinese for Christ Church and the Chinese Church in Christ (both in San Jose). He recently received his Doctorate at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary on the topic of Effective Second generation leadership in an immigrant Chinese church.
