Renew and Re-boot!

March 24, 2010

Greetings sisters and brothers at Canaan!

I’m just beginning to catch my breath! Last weekend may have been just another mundane weekend at Canaan for you. But it was new to me! I joined the community group that met at John and Ring Tang’s home on Friday, the consistory meeting on Saturday, and Sunday’s worship and installation service – everything flew by so quickly! As a former academic, I’m accustomed to a slower pace, but I really enjoyed it all! I’m grateful for the warm reception at the installation service. The New York Jets football gear that English Ministry leaders gave me were awesome gifts! Maybe I’ll wear them this Sunday. 🙂

As we enter the Easter season, I am feeling a sense of newness because of Canaan. I pray that you will experience a deep spiritual renewal as well. Many of us are transitioning into different stages of life and may be feeling stretched. Others may continue to feel suspicious or disappointed by their recent experiences at Canaan. It may not feel like renewal right now. But God is with us and is making a way for us through our deserts. God will quench our thirst and fill our hunger. God will renew us. To help guide us along the path of renewal, the Easter season Sunday messages will explore ways to revitalize our spirituality.

Then during Pentecost season (May 23 – Nov 21), we will engage a new Sunday message series called “Re-boot with Luke.” If you feel ready to “re-boot” your walk with the Lord and if you feel ready to help our English ministry “re-boot” its mission, then join us! Luke’s Gospel will show us how Jesus lived, taught, and ministered to people; and will help us “re-boot” our excitement for discipleship and ministry!

Please pray for me and our pastoral staff and our English ministry leadership team (Elder Chris Lin, Elder Ed Chen, Hubert Hsieh, Wendy Huang, Byron Wang, Jonathan Weng, and William Tai) as we strive for renewal and to re-boot!
