Dear Canaan EM brothers and sisters,
Have your heard the news? A big event will take place tomorrow evening!
No, it’s not NBA superstar free agent LeBron James’ announcement about which basketball team he will sign with.
It’s the rebirth of Young Adult Fellowship! All college and young adults are welcome to join a BBQ potluck at Jonathan Weng’s home tomorrow. We begin at 7 PM. Okay, okay – it’s not really a potluck, but if you got game, bring something to share! For more information and address, contact Bob & Shally Lin [email Bob and Shally] or ask Jonathan Weng [email Jonathan] to send you an Evite.
Also, don’t forget! English worship will be held on the second floor this Sunday at 9:30 AM. Come early and check out our new “Upper Room” worship service!
Furthermore, please plan on coming to the English Ministry retreat this Sept. 10-12 at Redwood Glen. Our theme will center on finding spiritual renewal in life’s gaps (more details later). We have invited Grace Hsiao to be our speaker and facilitator. Here’s a brief bio:
Grace Hsiao is a second generation Taiwanese American originally from the New York metro area. After encountering Jesus her freshman year at Stanford, she worked at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship’s Urbana Student Mission Convention. Her time working at a social justice church plant in Berkeley, and on small groups at City Church of San Francisco have grown her heart for discipleship and unity in the body of Christ. Grace holds a masters from Regent College and enjoys reading and cooking. If anyone can teach her how to make an authentic Taiwanese oyster pancake, she would be most grateful.
Check back with the Canaan EM blog for more details and updates. Preregister and help us determine how much funds to raise for a retreat scholarship!
Finally, please continue to pray for our Short Term Missions team in Taiwan. Updates will be posted on our blog shortly.
God is doing many exciting new things among us! Come and see!

Interim English Pastor
P.S. Official Wednesday English Prayer Meetings have been suspended, even though the space will be available for individuals who want to pray informally. The English Ministry Leadership Team (ELT) would like to “reboot” our prayer ministries and welcomes volunteers. If interested, please let me know.
