Dear Canaan EM brothers and sisters,
“I wish we could stay another day!”
That was the sentiment of many of the 59 who attended last weekend’s English Ministry Retreat at Redwood Glen. Through the three messages that centered on Jacob’s life, Grace Hsiao showed us how God uses life transitions to move his people into a greater intimacy with him and towards personal transformation. The messges, Redwood Glen’s facilities, lots of time for rest and recreation, the fun camp fire night, and the informal family setting helped us strengthen our sense of community. I am convinced that the Holy Spirit makes his strongest long term impact through these relaxed shared experiences!
Many thanks to the worship teams, volunteers, and the planning team for providing a spiritually rich and physically restful weekend! Special thanks to Paul and Betty Hsu and William Effendey for serving on the planning team! Please pray for the Mandarin and Taiwanese ministries upcoming retreats – may they also experience refreshment and renewal.
As we turn our attention to the 30th anniversary celebrations, I’d like to encourage you to pray and lend support. Volunteers are needed to help with food preparation and to staff game booths during the bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 16. Please speak to Winnie So and Jeremy Lee about how you can help.
As part of our 30th anniversary celebration, we will hold an all-church prayer meeting next Wednesday (Sept. 22) between 7:30-8:45 PM. Please join us as we thank God for his provision and pray for our future vision.
Also, next weekend (Sept. 25-26), Canaan will host the annual Global International Mission Rally. Please come and support our efforts to promote the vision of a Global church among Christians in the Bay Area!
One last request… if you have had a chance to sample the various restaurants and eateries near by the church (e.g., at Miltpitas Square, McCarthy Ranch, and the Great Mall) and would like to recommend them, could you send me the name and location of the restaurant – and a couple of sentences description? I’d like to assemble a local food directory for visitors and guests. Please email these to me by the end of this month.
Peace!
Tim Tseng
Interim English Pastor
