Sports Day is coming! (Aug 27)

August 19, 2011

Dear Canaan EMers and friends,

Apologies for lateness of this week’s e-update. Like last week, I only have a few important announcements to share.  The most exciting is to invite y’all to come to the upcoming, annual, all-church Sports Day on Saturday, August 27th (10 AM- 3 PM)! For parents with young children, there will be a parent-child mini-hike around the part. William Tai and Jeremy Lee are organizing two softball teams representing the EM. Sports Day will be held at Baylands Park The English service has been asked to help with clean up. Register with your fellowship group leader or with Jonathan Weng today! So come, eat, and play!!

Workshops include topics on:

  • Embracing God’s call and the joys of living as a missional Christian
  • Practical and creative ways of reaching the nations and our communities
  • Reaching urban, rural, and tribal people groups.

Do you ever feel like there are too many advertisements, interests, etc. vying for your attention? In America this is definitely true. We need to be reminded repeatedly “Who our God is” and “whose worship He deserves.” He deserves the worship of all peoples for He is far above their gods. This is the theme of our upcoming local missions conference in the East Bay. Will you join brothers and sister who care about Asia to worship the Most High God and together seek him in drawing people of every language to Him? This is not just for the “spiritual” or for those “called to the mission field.”  Everyone should be involved in enjoying God and bringing God’s glory to the ends of the earth.  You can do so by Learning, Praying, Welcoming, Sending, Mobilizing or Going.
