Anticipation

September 30, 2011

Warm greetings Canaan EMers,

Well, at long last, In Sync is here!

This Sunday, all four services (English, Taiwanese, Mandarin, and Children’s worship) will begin at 10 AM. This will be followed by a short refreshment break (11:15 AM) and a second hour of a variety of activities such as Sunday School, fellowships, prayer meetings, bible studies, etc. The English Ministry Sunday Schedule can be found at canaanem.org at this link [click here].

{Parents, please take a look at the new information regarding children’s ministry at his link [click here] Other announcements can be found there as well.}

For many of us, this change may feel like a big inconvenience. But it was only last September when we changed the English worship time from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Waking up an hour earlier to worship may be less challenging than participating in the second hour activity – which will be called H2O.

Hour 2 Oxygen (H2O): Air to breath, water to refresh

As Pastor Su has shared with our pastoral staff, In Sync gives Canaan a chance to serve and be equipped.  Those gifted to teach or lead will have opportunities to exercise their gifts. Those who are not as connected with the community life of our church will have a chance to plug in. Those who hunger and thirst for spiritual growth will be fed and refreshed. That is the promise of H2O.

By participating in H2O we give one additional hour of our time to serve, edify, and nurture one another. While many Christians in Americans are cheapening God’s grace by lowering expectations and catering to religious consumerism, I hope that we will honor the costly grace of Christ. I hope that we will help each other carry our crosses and strive to follow in his steps. In doing so, I believe that what may initially feel like a burden will be transformed into refreshment and true satisfaction! Let us learn how to hunger and thirst after God and His kingdom first!

See you Sunday!
