Spiritual Gifts: Serving

April 17, 2015

Greetings Canaan English Ministry members and friends!

Thanks everyone who participated in last week’s silent auction for the building fund! More than $13,000 was raised or pledged. Looking forward, there will be a building fund raising concert on May 10th at 2 p.m. Thanks Arthur, building fund raising committee, and volunteers for all your hard work!

Apologies for the multiple emails announcing the silent auction last Saturday. We had a blockage in our email system. When the blockage was removed, all the backlogged emails in the queue were released, thus flooding your inboxes. The problem has been resolved.

In addition to maintaining our facilities, building up Christ’s body is also about offering our gifts and talents to our local church. As we saw in last Sunday’s sermon, the church is faithful to her Lord when all her members are engaged in proclaiming God’s kingdom rather than maintaining a comfortable social club. Brothers and sisters who bring the gift of prophesy to the church raise our consciences and spur us out of complacency and apathy. The best way to appreciate this spiritual gift is to allow our hearts to be pricked and a have desire to change.

Giving Tree-300x249This Sunday, Pastor Chris Liu will return from paternity leave to share about the gift of serving. I will be in Southern California this weekend to visit relatives and conduct ministry with Inheritance Magazine and other Asian American Christian leaders. Betty and I will be back the following Sunday.

Have a great weekend and Sunday worship!

By God’s grace, as CTCC continues to grow, there is a need to reconfigure the physical space here to better serve the needs of the church. Session has determined a 2-month period, from 3/15 to 5/15, where we will actively raise funds for Phase One of the Reconstruction Project. Please get a “Phase One Building Fund Faith Pledge Form” in the back of the Worship Hall. The form will be available until 5/15. Please take it home and lift up this project in your prayers. Then return the completed pledge form to the Finance deacons or place it in the offering bag as soon as possible, but no later than 5/15.
